"nascent," is a multidisciplinary, episodic journey led by BlackQueer experiences of life, nature walks, and my work as a cultural organizer in North Carolina.

The performances look at the ecological tensions between urban living and wilderness that justify the social constructs of race and sexuality/gender in America, of all empires.

Provocation: inspired by theologian John Mbiti pre-colonial concepts of time in West African cultures were structured by life's needs. Morning-meal time. Yard-work time. Errand/Gossip time. Computer-work time. Wedding-planning time. Soybean time. Celebration time. Dancing-in-front-of-a-mirror time. Remembrance time. A-lil-snack time. Creative Measures Time.

What are my learned, innate, and desired ways of measuring time?
How does that dictate how I move? How can pleasurable (comfortable, needed) movement provide a deeper connection to myself, and through myself, provide a deeper connection to what matters to me?

CPT is an effort to give some positive feedback about our personal movement practices (however big or small) and how they fit into our current lives and the times. I provide entry points and gentle guidance through somatic exploration and the group takes it from there, becoming a cypher that moves with the knowledges of participants.First sessions in Summer (June-July) at NorthStar

-"nascent," performances also feel through an alien, unfamiliar time. Taking a punch at gender-neutral divinity (what if there is no divine feminism Auntie Lorde?). Queer burlesque trapped between spectacle, escapism, and exoticism ---- alluring other, they/them.

-Untitled (talking to the sky)
The film (in development) draws on rooted beings, reflection, and tease from the perspective of another being that is alien and fantastical-- but still natural-- allowing reality to drip through. (((within lives a giggle, a flirt, and lots and lots of dirt)))
Film includes footage from previous collaborations with SetSVN and Ivy-Nicole Jonét. Many thanks to Black Spatial Relics for your support.

Nascent, is moved by BlackQueer sw+sw-adjacent histories, climate collapse in the Southern US, and my co-conspirators.
